Cody Commander PsyD, CMPC, HSP

Clinical and Sport Psychologist, Commander Counseling & Wellness Rock Springs Psychological Testing Center

Dr. Cody Commander is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience in sport and performance psychology. He is the owner of a group private practice (Commander Counseling & Wellness) with a staff of 22. He is also the owner of Rock Springs Psychological Testing Center, which offers concierge-style psychological testing.

Dr. Commander was the previous Director of Psychological Resources for OU Student-Athletes at the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department, where he worked for 12 years. He also served as the Mental Health Officer for Team USA at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, and helped develop their mental health programming initiatives.

Supervision and training has been a focus of Dr. Commander’s. He has supervised and trained over 50 professionals in sport and clinical psychology, and created the first embedded full time doctoral internship in sport psychology at OU Athletics and CCW.

In addition to his sport psychology work, Dr. Commander specializes in psychological assessment. He has been administering and supervising psychological assessments since 2003. He has been at the forefront of psychological assessment with athletes, adapting evaluations to assist in the diagnosis for ADHD, learning disorders, autism spectrum, and other mental health disruptions. Dr. Commander has developed psychological assessment tools, including those measuring underdiagnosed conditions and performance-specific constructs. He is also the creator of Peregrine, a report-writing platform designed to streamline psychological report generation.

His professional involvement includes being a member on the planning committee for CCSPA/Big Sky conferences, past service as a Board of Director for the Oklahoma Psychological Association, and he regularly presents at regional and national conferences on topics including athlete mental health, performance enhancement, and psychological testing.
