Provider Burnout: How Do We Help the Helpers?

The pivot to telehealth services significantly altered the way providers interact with their clients, organize their day-to-day schedules, and handle competing work–life demands. Many clinicians serve as a grounding presence for struggling clients, patients, and communities. But how do we create space for the helpers? Gain a broader awareness of stress and burnout among mental health professionals and learn how providers can best support themselves to foster wellbeing.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the differences between stress, burnout, and collective trauma, and explain resilience, wellness, wellbeing.
  • Identify stress and burnout factors among mental health providers.
  • Describe resiliency models and factors associated with resilience.
  • Apply 2–3 strategies to foster resilience.
