This presentation will provide an overview of parenting stress and how to assess this construct, outlining contextual factors unique to families of color that contribute to parenting stress. Emphasis will be placed on how to use the Parenting Stress Index, Fourth Edition (PSI-4). When used as part of a comprehensive evaluation, the PSI-4 can improve equity in assessment and facilitate early identification and intervention to assist children and parents in obtaining the educational, behavioral, and social support they need.
