Administration, Scoring, and Interpretation of the PDDBI: The Nuts and Bolts

Date: April 13, 2023

Time: 12:00PM - 02:00PM

You must be registered to participate!

Ira L. Cohen, PhD, will explain how best to administer, score, and interpret the PDD Behavior Inventory (PDDBI), a reliable and valid informant-based assessment tool for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
This session will provide insight into characterizing and interpreting the PDDBI’s structure, as well as administration, scoring, selection of informants, how to handle missing data, and scoring procedures for nonverbal children. Time will be devoted to interpreting and understanding T scores, confidence intervals, cluster scores, and percentiles, in addition to understanding which domains and scores to examine when monitoring intervention outcomes over time. Finally, Dr. Cohen will address how to interpret the statistical significance of differences between parent and teacher informants and will review case examples.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Administer the PDDBI, including selecting informants and choosing which domains to monitor for diagnostic and/or intervention purposes.
  • Explain how to score the PDDBI, including proper scoring of missing items and appropriate scoring of nonverbal cases.
  • Interpret both raw and T scores and be able to use this information for purposes of diagnosis, monitoring change over time, and the possible need for additional assessments and/or referrals to other professionals.
