A Tale of Two Cases: Adult ADHD and Diversity

‐ Oct 3, 2023 2:00pm

Many providers report an increase in evaluation referrals to determine whether an individual has adult ADHD. Though many of these referrals may show a clear presence of ADHD, confounding factors such as comorbid conditions or symptoms that mimic ADHD make this process more complex at times. In addition, although ADHD affects adults of all races, ethnicities, socioeconomic groups, and genders, there disparities remain in the assessment and care individuals from diverse populations may receive.
This presentation will revisit a data-informed approach to assessing ADHD with a focus on culturally diverse clients. The session will explore issues that could lead to potential overdiagnosis, underdiagnosis, or misdiagnosis, that could lead to inappropriate treatment recommendations. This live webinar will provide an overview of the assessment process using two cases of clients from diverse backgrounds to examine the similarities and differences to help with diagnosis and guide intervention plans.

Eligible for 1 CE credit.
