The Utility of the M-FAST in the Assessment of Malingering in Forensic Settings and Emergency Departments

Join Holly A. Miller, PhD, author of the Miller Forensic Assessment of Symptoms Test (M-FAST), for a session that will address screening for malingered psychiatric illness in forensic settings and emergency departments. Participants will learn how to assess adults who may be feigning psychiatric illness, learn appropriate ways to screen for it, and understand next steps.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the prevalence of malingering in various settings
  • Describe the development and administration guidelines of the M-FAST
  • Explain the utility of the M-FAST and understand the use of cut scores with varied populations
